JIM JONES UP FOR THREE
ACADEMY OF WESTERN MUSIC AWARDS
Jim Jones has been nominated in three categories for the 20th annual Academy of Western Music awards. The singer/songwriter is up for Western Music Male, Western Music Album for “Race With The Wind” and Western Music Song for “The Fires Of Goliad.”
“I was really pleased to find out I was nominated for three Academy of Western Artist awards … Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year for mine and Bruce Huntington’s ‘The Fires of Goliad,’ and for Album of the year with my album ‘Race with the Wind.’
“It’s always an honor to be recognized. You know this organization has been around for a long time, thanks primarily to the efforts of our good friend Bobby Newton, and I really appreciate them validating my work.”
Jones is also pleased to have an excuse to return to his native Texas.
“You know, this year a bunch of my good friends have been nominated for an award, some of them for the first time. There’s a real sense of excitement surrounding the awards ceremony and I think it’s gonna be a big ole celebration, no matter who wins. And it also gives me a good excuse to head back to my home state of Texas, which is always a treat.”
