The Hot Texas Swing Band’s third CD, “Ain’t Dead Yet”, was released June 25th.

The Hot Texas Swing Band will have CD release parties at Gruene Hall on Saturday, July 18th and at Austin Beer Garden Brewing, ABGB, on Sunday, July 19th and will be On Tour in West Texas and New Mexico from July 22nd thru July 26th.

        The Hot Texas Swing Band’s new CD, “Ain’t Dead Yet”, has 13 tracks of Texas Dancehall, Western Swing, Latin and Rockabilly music including 7 original songs written by bandleader Alex Dormont.  The 6 covers include tunes written by Cindy Walker and by Johnny Gimble, who the album is dedicated to.  Musicians featured on “Ain’t Dead Yet” are Alex Dormont, upright bass and vocals, Selena Rosanbalm, vocals, Karen Biller, drums, Cat Clemons,  guitar,  Erik Hokkanen, fiddle, Scott Benner, tenor sax, Jimmy Shortell, trumpet and Denny Mathis, steel guitar.  Mike Morgan and Pat Manske engineered and mixed “Ain’t Dead Yet” at The Zone recording studio and Jerry Tubbs of Terra Nova Digital Audio mastered the CD.

“Ain’t Dead Yet” will be sold at Waterloo Records in Austin and can be heard on their Hear Texas Here rack.  It will also be for sale at Lone Star Record’s Superfly Store in San Marcos, Texas.  “Ain’t Dead Yet” will be available online at http://www.HotTexasSwingBand and on iTunes and Amazon.com.

        �I am very proud of this CD and believe it captures the hard driving energy that the Hot Texas Swing Band delivers at live performances.  Our fans that come out to dance and to listen to our music will love this CD.  We feel that this will be a breakout CD for the band.”   Dormont said.  Dormont has been in numerous bands including Ace in the Hole and Jimmy Day�s band.  He also appeared as the fiddler in the film �Lonesome Dove�.  The Academy of Western Artists named Alex Dormont their Western Swing Male Vocalist of the Year for 2012.

The Hot Texas Swing Band will have a Fox 7 TV appearance on Good Day Austin on Thursday, July 16th and CD Release Parties at Gruene Hall on Saturday, July 18th from 1:00-5:00PM and at Austin Beer Garden, ABGB on Sunday July 19th from 4:00-7:00PM.  They will also go on a West Texas/New Mexico CD Celebration Tour from July 22 to July 26th with appearances at Padres in Marfa, TX, High Desert Brewing in Las Cruces, NM, The Buckhorn Saloon Opera House in Silver City, NM and at the House of FiFi DuBois in San Angelo, TX. 

The Hot Texas Swing Band’s first CD (self-titled), released in 2012, was a Top 5 Finalist for Album of the Year and Song of the Year and the band was named a Top 5 Finalist for Group of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists   Their second CD, ‘Bout Time, released in 2013, included “Way Too Soon”  which was named AWA’s Western Swing Song of the Year.  The band was also recognized as a Top 10 Jazz Band for three years in a row by the Austin Chronicle Reader’s Poll.  The City of Dripping Springs, TX proclaimed Feb.10-16, 2013 as Alex Dormont and Hot Texas Swing Band Week.  The City of Austin proclaimed Oct. 23, 2013 as “Hot Texas Swing Band Day” and the band performed for the Mayor and City Council.
