Jim Jones performed at the first Gathering I attended in Alpine Texas. I really liked his music, his voice and his personality then but had no idea what a great guy he was until I got to know him as a friend. Jim is so active in the industry, writing music, singing at all sorts of events, cutting CDs, helping other artists etc. but he is also a novelist! And a good one at that!
When I received his “Still Ridin’” CD I loved it. Thought he would never do another that would top it. The title song on that CD is one of my favorites! Still is! And I play it on my show often.
Then last year at the Cowboy Poetry and Western Music Gathering in Tyrone, NM he sang “Smoke of the Brandin’ Fire” and I thought it was wonderful. Couldn’t wait for his new CD “Feels Like Home To Me” to come out. And he just keeps getting better. Eight songs on this CD were either written or co-written by Jim and they are all GOOD! Of course the ones he didn’t write are great too, or he wouldn’t have recorded them! Thank you Jim for all the great material!
And…if being a great singer and song writer is not enough he wrote Rustler’s Moon. A novel that I really enjoyed reading…and can’t wait for the next one! When will that be Jim??? It’s a neat story that I highly recommend.
If you do not have all of these, log on to http://jimjonesmusic.com. These 2 CDs, the book and Jim’s earlier CDs are available. You will not be disappointed!
May 6 Jim will be in Deming with Jim Wilson for a “house concert” at the Adobe Deli! Come out and join us! You will be entertained by these two guys!!!
